Overview

Ever since the inception of IISER Berhampur in 2016, the Department of Chemical Sciences (DCS) has been functioning as an integral pillar of the fundamental sciences. Currently, the department comprises fourteen faculty members engaged in diverse research domains within the field of Chemistry as well as interdisciplinary fields of sciences. The main focus of the department is to foster world-class and outstanding teaching and research activities and to train various levels of chemistry aspirants and scholars. Such training programs could help students to secure potential jobs both in the industry and academic sectors.

The department is an excellent academic platform to realize the dreams of various scientific careers. The institute welcomes you to be part of the pool of intellectual and well-trained faculty members of IISER Berhampur.

Research Themes

Nanocomposites, Photoelectrochemistry and Superconductors

The group aims at understanding the mechanism of evolution of adaptive and non-adaptive characters in organisms. By employing phenotypic manipulation experiments, primarily using laboratory fruit fly populations, his group investigates phenotype - fitness correlations. The group then employs Experimental Evolution to investigate the evolution of these phenotypes in experimental populations in real-time.
